Vu360 Solutions: Affordable Technology for Optimizing Supply Chains
Tom Gruenwald, COO and Rizwan Khan, Founder
Inundated by myriads of technologies, the current supply chain market is one that has a burning need for integration capabilities. Rizwan Khan, the founder of Vu360 Solutions, says that adoption of these numerous technologies often becomes a daunting task for the smaller and mid-sized companies. An accomplished executive who brings with him 25 years of entrepreneurial experience, Khan has devoted his last four years putting together technology solutions to solve some of the most complex supply chain problems. He states, “Because of my experience running supply chains in the past, I developed a keen understanding of the limitations of most supply chain platforms. I wanted to be able to track goods in real-time and store their attributes such as temperature and shelf-life to allow intelligent shipping and storage decisions. So with Vu360 Solutions, we integrated a broad set of different technologies, and the result is that we can give fantastic visibility to the business owner and the supply chain manager.”
By combining track and trace and IoT with WMS/ERP software, the company delivers a wide range of solutions, including ERP, WMS, cold chain and inventory management with IoT-based monitoring capabilities that have taken precision data acquisition to a whole new level.
For instance, in every bottle of medicine or case of vegetables, Vu360 Solutions can associate several types of information with a product. The system can use the timestamp of an item’s production or packaging or its expiry date, together with cold chain details, such as the temperature profile, to make intelligent decisions on future actions. For instance, if the expiry date is fast approaching, then the shipment can be expedited or shipped to a nearby location, instead of cross-country. This allows the elimination of enormous costs on product returns due to spoilage.
Large companies can easily afford our technological solutions, but our primary mission is to make these solutions accessible and affordable to the SMB market
Tom Gruenwald, the COO at Vu360 Solutions—who has two decades of technical and executive expertise in several leading organizations—adds, “Our system allows distribution centers to ship products according to the distance and shelf life. For instance, a product which has a shelf life of 14 days can be sent from the west coast to the east coast, but if it’s just four days, the algorithm decides that it should be sent to someplace close by.”
Having started with the agriculture sector, the company today has positioned itself as a frontrunner in providing cutting-edge technology to industries like pharmaceutical, food supply chain, WMS, and health sciences as well. Elucidating on the roadmap and future goals, Vu360 now has set its eyes on blockchain technology, which would be an integral part of the company’s plan for next year. Khan explains that by leveraging blockchain technology, the company can offer solutions to battle many agricultural and pharmaceutical cold supply chain issues. With the addition of machine learning and analytics capabilities—developments of which are in the pipeline—customers would not have to buy more of raw materials than what is needed and can arrive at smarter decisions to further optimize supply chains.
The rapidly growing company is expanding its horizons across the United States and international markets, where both private enterprises and public-sector entities are part of Vu360 Solutions’ proliferating customer base. “Large companies can easily afford our technological solutions, but our primary mission is to make these solutions accessible and affordable to the SMB market,” said Khan.
